Welcome to the DARC Laboratory

We are an analytical research facility based in the Department of Archaeology at Durham University offering advanced chemical and materials analysis for academia and industry. Our labs provide access to full service optical and electron microscopy facilities (SEM-EDX), energy dispersive X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry (EDXRF), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), fourier transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), inductively coupled plasma atomic emission and mass spectroscopy (ICP -AES and -MS), digital image analysis, and 3D printing.

 

We have participated in a wide range of projects with archaeological, academic, and industrial partners. We pride ourselves on achieving the highest analytical standards and providing courteous and efficient service.
